Battle Creek Farmers Coop N/S, is a locally owned farm supply and marketing cooperative. It was established in Battle Creek, Nebraska as a Creamery in 1929. Today the company is controlled by approximately 900 agricultural producers throughout a 10 county area in Northeast Nebraska. A base of approximately 5200 customers indicates a strong presence in the area.

Facilities include two sites in Battle Creek, Pierce, Plainview, Bloomfield, Osmond, Ewing, Neligh, Oakdale, Orchard, Newman Grove, and Madison. There are approximately 100 full-time and part-time employees. Despite the wide range of facilities, the company maintains local pride in each facility. Customers are assured that their location manager has the tools and authority to exceed expected customer satisfaction. The company has primarily 5 business units: Grain, Feed, Agronomy, Energy, and Transportation.

The Grain Department, is the marketing unit of the company, offering numerous marketing options to producers and services such as drying, storage, and custom weighing. Unit trains of grain are shipped on the Burlington Northern to export and domestic markets. The majority of the grain is marketed to domestic users in the corn and soybean processing, cattle feedlots and egg production in Eastern Nebraska. There are grain locations in Battle Creek, Bloomfield, Neligh/Oakdale, Newman Grove and Osmond. One of the greatest assets of the grain division is the 550,000 bushel bin located in Osmond.

The Agronomy Division, provides soil nutrient inputs, pest-control products and seed. Crop Production Specialist throughout the territory coordinate the warehousing, delivery, custom application, equipment rental and provide computerized services including soil testing and GPS. This divisions mission is to “Improve the Economic Return of Farmers while Protecting the Environment.”

The Feed Division, “Progressive Nutrition is a LLC 50/50 joint venture between Battle Creek Farmers Coop N/S and Cenex/Harvest States. This joint venture, with the cooperation of the Battle Creek Farmers Coop, provides feed inputs to small, medium, and large livestock operations through the sales of premix, concentrate, custom mixed feeds and animal health products. Services include processing of feed grains, delivery, feed warehouses throughout the territory and computer analysis of feed stuffs and livestock performance projections.

The Energy Division, provides the energy input side for agricultural producers and their communities (gasoline, diesel, Kerosene, lubricants, and propane). Services include a broad choice of purchase options and currently purchase options include acquired storage on the pipeline enabling the company to originate products directly from the refinery.

The Transportation Division, not only moves the commodities on the input and output side of production agriculture, but enables the cooperative to be more reliable since it control this important part of the commodities it deals with.

The Administration Division, supporting the 6 business units remains today in Battle Creek, Nebraska. This department not only processes the paperwork, but also offers purchasing terms and agricultural input financing.
